There's a name for what you are advocating. It's called Reinventing the Wheel.

Petroleum products have proved themselves to be a source of automotive fuel that is unparalleled. Not only that, the infrastructure has been in place for 75 years. Not only that, but we have enough right here in the U.S. to last for hundreds, if not thousands of years.

So dream on.
