Romney says abortion legal for mother's health DONNA CASSATA August 27, 2012 6:43 PM EDT Copyright 2012 Lubbock Online. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed. TAMPA, Fla. (AP) Republican Mitt Romney says he is in favor of abortion in cases of rape, incest and thehealth and life of the mother.
The presidential candidate's addition of the health of the mother is certain to raise questions about Romney'sposition among conservatives. Health can be broadly defined and, in fact, running mate Paul Ryan has challenged the health exception as a major loophole.
Romney commented in an interview Monday with CBS News. The network released Romney's comments before its evening broadcast.
Romney's position on abortion rights has evolved. When he ran for the U.S. Senate in Massachusetts, he backed abortion rights. As a presidential candidate, he has opposed abortion rights and says the Supreme Court should reverse the landmark Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion.

Romney said he would repeal and REPLACE ObamaCare. Have you checked RomneyCare? When asked the difference between then he stated that RomneyCare had less pages. How reassuring.
A morning after pill as as well as birth control pills murder babies after conception.
Have you checked the Judges appointed by Obama?
What judges are Cain, Santorum and Bachmann going to appoint?
> I tend to think that most, if not all women in that situation would choose the life of the child over their own.
Yes, especially a young future mother who has people who love her more than anything. I’m sure her husband, parents, children and friends would fully encourage her and fully understand her decision.
In reality, suicide is never the answer and to stay and fight is the strongest action. In both motherhood and politics.
Romney or Obama are the viable choices.
You’re certainly free to vote for Virgil Goode or for yourself or for your dog if you don’t care about removing Obama.
Despite Romney’s less than perfect bona fides, he’s still preferable to Obama in my book.
So what then? An all-or-nothing voter?
yep. And I know 3 important women close to me who would agree. My mom, wife and sister. Difficult pregnancies and life threatening. Me and my son and nephew thank them. Any time another person comes out of your body there is a risk.

Do you propose that the GOP candidates run on a platform of banning contraception and/or Birth Control Pills?
So where do you stand on the law of double effect? If the unborn baby is going to die anyway, Mom should, too?
“Do you propose that the GOP candidates run on a platform of banning contraception and/or Birth Control Pills?”
No, I favor the current GOP Platform which states that we can murder some babies, but not other babies. /Sarcasm
Liberal judges appointed by Obama BAD, Liberal Judges appointed by Romney GOOD? My dilemma is what is worse 4 years of Obama or 8 years of Romney. I didn’t vote for HOPE & CHANGE last time and I don’t want to this time. I don’t want to have to HOPE Romney will CHANGE.
You seem to think exploring all issues and knowing what you are voting for is wrong. Romney may do a little less damage to the Country but for twice as long. Yeah he is a liberal but he has an R beside his name so lets all vote for him, and don’t dare to question the RNC new king.
You really believe they're the same!?!
Amazing.
Well if the conservative movement and/or the Tea Party can get together on something to influence Washington, who do you think you can influence one way or ther other?
Romney flip-flopper panderer as you say, worried about trying to get re-elected in 2016 or hardcore America-hating destroyer torching everything he can on the way out?
The devil comes disguised as an angel of light. Romney could be worse. He isn’t inspiring confidence. He just lost my vote.
I can’t vote for someone who believes in killing babies.
God Bless you and your entire family. It is so good to see good folks on here. I mean there are many but SOME here are conservative when convenient.
“What else is he gonna say? The VAST majority of women voters have bought in this crap about abortion. He would have zero (0) chance of being elected otherwise. “
So you’re basically saying that no one else but a pro-choice Republican can ever win the Presidency.
Tzar is right at 111.
Let the left celebrate killing babies as a party platform.
Incrementalism works.
I'm saying welcome to the nasty illogical world of human politics. See post #95. The reality is that a vast majority of people, whether they abhor abortion or not, NOW believe it to be a right. They are not willing to accept any serious effort by a politician to reverse Roe v. Wade. I would guess at least half the population (including half of women) hate the idea of abortion, but they would not be willing to allow the government to eliminate abortion entirely.
