There is some data showing the storm continuing to creep west, potentially not making landfall until it reaches western Louisiana or even east Texas.

Despite MSM wishcasting, it's no Katrina.

If predictions of a 6-12 ft. storm surge, 20 inches of rain and an essential stall come to fruition, it just might have the same results.

That’s just not true yet, it very well could be.

Making landfall where you suggested, would make the worst of the storm right over New Orleans. It will not impact east Texas. Remember only 9 inches of rain fell over New Orleans in Katrina. Don’t be thrown off by the lesser winds, the rain is deeper, larger, heavier and is usually the things that causes the most damage in these types of storms.

The 975 mb pressure as of the time I write this is extremely low for a cat 1 storm. This is because of the sheer size of it. 48-72 hours of non stop rain should be expected.

So don’t be thrown off because it never reached Katrina size. Remember Katrina impacted as a cat 2. This one very well could as well.
