I would bet if this had been happening at Noon the same results would have happened because the office was either paniced or startled and got off a Barney shot. It could have also been a kid coming home from work at Mickey'D's. Stupid of the kid then as well huh?
Believe it or not many women are firearm trained for self defense. If she had paniced & shot the uniformed officer outside her home thinking he was a burglar would you be here defending her? Somehow I seriously doubt it.
She thought her Ex was outside her home and felt safe enough to go check. That's why she went outside. Now obviously she was not scared of the EX as she would have not went outside right?

The cop that shot her needs to go to jail. The remaining cops in that department need a LOT more training, starting with “DON’T TOUCH THE EFFIN’ TRIGGER UNTIL YOU HAVE A TARGET AND ARE READY TO SHOOT!”
