Well, mock me if you will, but I firmly believe that AIDS is a judgment from God. This scourge will not behave like other diseases resulting from morally neutral, benign activity. I see it only getting worse, possibly through a mutation into a monster virus.

Nature and nature's God will only stand having people spit in their eyes for so long.

And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
Romans 1:27 KJV

HIV, as a virus, has some unusual differences, but it is a very targeted disease. Fortunately, it does not fall on the just and the unjust alike. It targets the unjust, as it were.

Which may or may not support the God’s punishment theory.

However, if you want a real “Satan Bug”,

(a very good and chilling 1965 movie, btw)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0059678/

the real demon disease itself is so powerful and frightening that even the government of North Korea, that regularly ignores deadly epidemics of typhus and scarlet fever in its cities, has been terrified into international compliance by their doctors, for fear of it.

It is H5N1 Avian flu. It is as close to a perfect pandemic virus, while maintaining a 60% mortality rate of those infected, that a worldwide mortality estimate is in excess of one billion people.

And while, only by God’s grace, it has not yet achieved its last step, becoming easily transmissible from human to human, science has no idea why. It only needs a sequence of just five mutations to do so.

It could have happened five years ago, or any time since, but it has not. Its emergence would be unstoppable.

Humanity has never seen such a demon. The closest thing to it was when rabbit fever was introduced to Australia many years ago, and wiped out 96% of the rabbits in a single year, and another 2% the following year.

HIV is just “the sniffles” compared to this. (And, I’ll add that fortunately it is not of the type of virus that can become pulmonary, transmitted by cough and sneezing.)
