Yesterday, Michael Duncan reported at Freedom Works on a brewing fight in the rules committee of the RNC. Essentially, the Rules Committee is trying to disenfranchise grassroots groups by allowing the party nominee to dismiss delegates and silence opposition. Buzz Feed explained this new rule:

Levin Surge!
by Mark Levin on Monday, August 27, 2012 at 5:00pm
Tell RNC chairman NO to undermining grassroots participation in the GOP delegate process and YES to amendments to Rules 12 and 15 in the Minority Reports.
Chairman Reince Priebus’s office can be contacted by phone: call 202-863-8500, then press 9, and then press 4 for the Chairman’s office. PLEASE BE POLITE AND CIVIL AT ALL TIMES.
A truism, but I don’t think it applies in this case. I initially sided with Gateway Pundit today. But from what I’m hearing from Tampa, the Paul people are planning to disrupt the Convention and create an ugly scene. We need to make sure we don’t become an echo chamber, and make sure we get the full picture lest we abet the wrong people.
I think the networks are showing good editorial judgement only showing an hour/night of these bs sessions. Why should they turn over their airwaves to be programmed by the party professionals to run their poll test nonsense.

The GOP elites are supposed to listen to the “little people” and the general lower income “rif-raff?”
How dare anyone make that suggestion!
LOL are you listening to yourself? The so called convention isn’t even an echo chamber. It’s scripted, poll tested, nonsense that any American can see through in about 10 seconds. It’s just a commercial.
As you know the Republicans managed to pick up most of the white Southern vote in the Nixon and Reagan years ~ and you might well ask 'Hey, what happened that caused the Southern Democrats to let that happen'?
That would be a good question.
One of the techniques the Northern Democrats used to dump Southern Democrat politicians and political professionals (the guys who ran the parties in the states) was to incorporate a brand new Democrat party under the laws of the affected state. Black politicians and their Northern Democrat handlers engineered a number of these events, and then at the Convention, and at the biennial meetings they challenged the right of the regular Democrats to represent that state.
The fix was in and next thing you know all the Southern Democrats had no home, and Black Democrats ran the show in a number of Southern states.
Given the fix we have in Virginia at present, this method might work here first ~ unless Cuccinelli and crowd can figure out a way to purge the GOP-e crowd first.
This process can take more than a decade and it's messy. What the Democrats didn't expect was the loss of ALL the white voters to the Republicans.
Still, we have New England as an analogous territory. Most of the local Republican parties are moribund. Even if you tried to revivify them all that will happen is you'll end up with drones in your new structure. What is needed is a total purge of the existing party, it's structures, and its internal rules. Unlike the new Democrat parties in the South, we face little chance of a serious loss of support in New England ~ 'cause there isn't any.
Its 1964 all over again and another Romney is calling conservatives “insignificant”.
When I consider confronting anyone over legislation or rules I want to know what the hell I'm talking about!
Since neither I nor anyone on FR can be fully up to date on every likely subject it seems that the requester could provide specifics:
"The party establishment rammed through new party rules designed to lessen the impact of gun owners, conservatives and Tea-Party-types of all kinds."
"The Republican National Convention Rules Committee voted 63-38 to approve a new rule...granting the Republican National Committee sweeping new powers to amend the governing document of the GOP."
"...Romneys top lawyer Ben Ginsberg, (who) stressed that it would grant flexibility to Romney and the committee to adapt to changing political environments (by allowing) the RNC to amend the partys rules without a vote by the full Republican National Convention."
At some point in the deluge a GOP delegate did identify two paragraphs or sections but my first reading didn't make that reference suitable for a debate.
No one wants to call their representative, the GOPe, or any wavering congress critter to demand that they stop "denying my impact", or voting 63 to 38 on "stuff I don't like", claiming that Ben Ginsberg can't be a natural born citizen because his name sounds international, or "don't do whatever someone on the internet says you are doing".
Please folks;
Cite the existing or desired condition, cite the action(s) threatening it, cite the desired changed behavior and let me/us pitch in and help...or decide on our own if help is appropriate.
The most recent other such event is/was a California bill supposedly banning removable magazines from rifles, when read, the proposed bill banned devices to convert fixed magazines to removable magazines; I thought that was already illegal in California.
I'm certainly open to learning where or how the legislation affects my M1, M1A1, Saiga, or SMLE and acting accordingly. But demanding action you don't fully understand is very nearly the same level of debate as the occupy movement displayed.
Yes, and I am still pissed. Rockefeller said that they had to destroy Goldwater as a member of the human race. But ABO.
Of course, it's just a commercial - that's all the national conventions have been since the 1970s! The problem this year is that the Ron Paul zealots want to turn the Republican National Convention into a circus, despite the fact that their guy lost. If they succeed, it will serve as a very poor GOP commercial and will only provide fresh material to the Democrats.
I think Lynrd Skynrd had a big hit about that smellback in the 70’s.
That’s the point. They didn’t lose in many states. Mn for example. They won big time. What’s the point of participating if you win according to the rules but then they change the rules you get kicked out anyway? That’s the definition of tyranny.
Compared to this disenfranchising the delegates nonsense Akin and his little faux pas are nothing. The Conservatives of the party (Tea and otherwise) are gonna be/are pissed. Do they really want to bring about a third party right now? Do they really want people to stay home? Because either, or both, of those scenarios would be strong possibilities.
I just don't see tyranny in this case. What I see is an attempt to keep the Paul people from creating anarchy on the Convention floor. I believe if the Paul folks had their way, they would unleash Chicago '68 on the GOP Convention - a real disaster. I just don't see it as any more than that...
