In an article from February 5, 1993, Mr. Grizzard wrote quote, Whatever the reason, there was a citizenry that once saw fit to fight and die and I come from all that, and I look at those people as brave and gallant, and a frightful force until their hearts and their lands were burnt away. I will never turn my back on that heritage. unquote

Lewis was a HUGE Georgia Bulldog fan...Being from Tennessee, I can forgive him for that, though...He was GREAT!!!!!
“The Mountain Car” Still makes me howl!
Some more great McManus.......
“Real Ponies Don’t Go OINK”
“They Shoot Canoes, Don’t They?”
My son tells me I’m just like Rancid Crabtree....*LOL*
” I wont get married again. Ill just find a woman I cant stand and buy her a house.”
Hell yeah! Cut to the chase!
I am Eddie Muldoon LOL
Pat wore that poor old guy out.
I will never forget my first trip to Ga.
What characters.
McManus has such a way of turning a phrase. I love his writing.
“Crazy Eddie”...*LOL*
Can’t you just see Rancid going down that hill in the mountain car??? His eyes bulgin’ out!!!!!*ROFL*
... Actually, the University of Tennessee Marching Band was and is known as The Pride of the Southland Marching Band...
UGA class of ‘77 here ... Don’t know the history of the UT band but at least through 1977, UGA’s marching band was known as the Dixie Redcoat Marching Band. There were efforts even back then to drop the “Dixie” which has since been deleted. Could some UGA alum pinpoint the year?
More Lewis Grizzard ... “My Daddy Was a Pistol and I Am a Son of a Gun” ... and the joke about the mermaid and the Englishman, the Welshman, and the Scot ... and the joke about golf in heaven ...
First time I ever stayed on Ga was with my old friend who was raised there.
We stated at his Momma Dots house and she fed us till we popped.
Anyhow, this southin fellow had been bragging about some nekkid diving rock on the Chattahoochee river, where the girls would get nekkid and jump..
I thought he was full of crap
But we went on a float down the Chattahoochee and sure as morning, those girls were getting nekkid and jumping LOL
Later on the Band Blackfoot put on a show at a friends farm and that blew me away too LOL
Good times.
It was Retch Sweeney piloting the initial run of the Mountain car loL!
That’s right...
That’s right...
They named the car after Ms Beasly the English teacher..
“Yeah, me and Retch take Ms Beasly into the woods all the time”
Her back end sure was grumbling”
I’m UT class of ‘76...It’s been “Pride of the Southland” as far back as I can recall...(Mid 50’s.....)
I remember Grizzard’s great Aunt using the outhouse...gettin’ stung by the “wast’s” (wasps) runnin’ across the backyard yelling “I been bit by a SHITSNAKE!!!!!!”.....I laughed til I cried....
Remember when they was hiking through the woods and the poor kid’s clothes were tattered and coming off??? He rubbed mud on cause of the skeeters....They got kinda lost and he saw the lumberjack and went running to him all covered with mud and sticks and leaves...The lumber jack thought he was Bigfoot or something and ran away????
