California’s GDP grew by 2 percent last year

And looking at that chart, WV GDP grew by 4.6% even though mining was off considerably.

Something not quite right here.

Look at private sector employment instead. Since recession, CA down -6.77%, NJ down -5.24%. Only energy states are up: Texas, N. Dakota, Louisiana, Alaska. Oh yeah, DC too.
