Sorry, but what Akin’s said, even in your read this article, admits Akin’s claim of the magical uterus that will less likely carry a child if it was concieved in rape is WRONG.

Its FUNDAMENTALLY WRONG! And him citing it as a justification for ANY stand on abortion for or against shows the man utterly ill informed and ignorant of the most basic of reproductive facts.

I am not PC, I have no issues with Akin not wanting an exemption for rape, I personall agree that I see no reason for exemptions for rape. However to cite non existent reasons for your stand is ignorant.

Akin was presented with a very simple question, not a gotcha, if he doesn’t believe in abortion in the case of rape, he should be able to articulate it cogently and intelligently, he didn’t. Its really not that hard, the sins of the father should not be punished upon the child. The rapist himself would not face the death penalty for the crime, why should the innocent child conceived from the act? This is simple, non extreme, and NON IDIOTIC answer.

Even if you one doesn’t agree with that argument, its not an argument that can be painted to the average person as Extreme, no doubt the abortion rights groups would try, but they would mostly preach to the chior, its not an argument that can be put forth as extreme.

Akin killed himself, trying to blame the media for the idiotic and ignorant things he said is nonsense. If you are going to have a position you better be able to articulate it, and everyone has a verbal gaffe now and again, and the “legitimate rape” verbage was a basic gaffe, it could and should have been chosen better, but it wasn’t what killed him, his claim of complete lunacy about rape victims less likely to become pregnant is what killed him. He didn’t just pick words poorly, he said something he TRULY BELIEVED, something that was EMPIRICALLY AND FUNDAMENTALLY WRONG. Not just a little misunderstanding, but fundamentally wrong.

Akin made his own mountain by making such a fundamentally ignorant statement, and yes, as a life long conservative, and pro life person, I don’t want this fool near the law making body! There are too many fools in there already! if he belives what he stated, he’s just as likely to believe any mirriad of nonsensical claims and arguments and myths.

If he was smart he would have withdrawn and lived to fight another day, instead he’s decided to stay in and will continue to plumit and take other republicans with him. This fools actions have cost the Missouri senate seat, and will cost the Republicans other close races across the country. He owns this, not the media.
