The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows President Obama attracting support from 47% of voters nationwide, while Mitt Romney earns 44% of the vote. Four percent (4%) prefer some other candidate, and five percent (5%) are undecided.
A presidents job approval rating is one of the best indicators for assessing his chances of reelection. Typically, the presidents job approval rating on Election Day will be close to the share of the vote he receives. Currently, 50% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the president's job performance. Forty-nine percent (49%) at least somewhat disapprove of the job Obama is doing (see trends).

Rasmussen has Obama winning independents by 10 points. If that is true Romney will lose but that’s a big if. In exit polling he won independents by 8 points in 2008. Am I expected to believe that he has increased his margin with independents while incomes has declined, unemployment is over 8% and gas is past 4 bucks a gallon. Nah, can’t be true.
BTW, any poll that doesn’t release the crosstabs should be summarily dismissed, including Rasmussen.
I don’t know which pollster doesn’t, but I can tell you weekend polling is a proven issue. You get completely different results over weekends than during the week.
Look at Rasmussen, generally every monday you will see Obama usually slightly higher than he was on Friday, only to drop again on monday and tuesday as the weekend polling rolls out of the 3 day.
The only possible upside to this disaster could be that in 2016 the GOP has eliminated future todd akin spoilers and his enablers.
Four more years...of waiting to wise up.
That should say drop again on Tuesday and Wednesday as the weekend numbers roll out.
Don’t worry, after tomorrow night when the Romney?Ryan ticket is for real, and the money tree is opened up, you will see millions spent on our good guy cause and saving America. And.....Romney and Ryan will continue to rake the big bucks in from both big donors and the little folks with their small contributions.
Ras in 08.
The 5 day w/leaners:
08/26/2008: McCain 46%, Obama 46%
08/25/2008: McCain 45%, Obama 48%
08/24/2008: McCain 45%, Obama 48%
08/23/2008: McCain 46%, Obama 48%
08/22/2008: McCain 46%, Obama 47%
The 5 day w/o leaners:
08/26/2008: McCain 44%, Obama 44%
08/25/2008: McCain 42%, Obama 46%
08/24/2008: McCain 43%, Obama 46%
08/23/2008: McCain 42%, Obama 45%
08/22/2008: McCain 43%, Obama 45%
Amazing... this race is nearly exactly on par with 2008.
No way obama wins indes by 10 points.
Pure bs.
Weird. This was a big vacation week and weekend — I wonder if that is a factor.
Too early yet. Wait until Labor Day when the politicking gets going in ernest. The Akin effect will become less and less.
Obama IS their "god."
you DEFINITELY have a point there!
I don’t know if Repubs will ever get an eight-year run again. This country is listing pretty hard left.
I do know my American flag is coming down the minute the election is called, if Obama wins, and it isn’t going back up until he’s gone.
BINGO! If this was a generation ago, the big Zero would be lucky to see McGovern numbers (and remember, McGovern ran against Nixon, not exactly Mr. Personality).
Yep. That's their attitude... they're of the mindset that all faiths are hogwash.
Women, the daily swing vote.
Oh, man... you lobbed up a softball right up over the plate and I SO want to take a swing at it... but I'd better not.
How in the h##l does Ras jive with the ABC/WashPo poll just out, which has Romney up 1 and which oversamples Dems by 9???
