Cops: 2 dozen young people arrested in Near North disturbances (Chicago again)

Two dozen young people were arrested after causing disturbances near and on the Magnificent Mile Saturday afternoon, Chicago police said this morning.

Of those arrested, 20 were juveniles and four were adults after the incidents Saturday evening, police said. Most were cited or charged with misdemeanor reckless conduct.

Chicago is becoming the most dangerous city in the world. Roving gangs of punks are now attacking people in what used to be the safest part of the city. And we have an incompetent police chief who'll charge them with misdemeanors while blaming Sarah Palin and the Pilgrims.

I live in downstate IL but no longer have to fly in/out of O’Hare or venture into the city except when I choose to. As wonderful as “the city” is, the best part was always seeing it in my rear-view window.

It really is a nice area - been there many times as my relatives live there. It is safe for the punks because they are out of their element - in their own, they would be subject to knifings or drive by shootings. Cowards/punks who travel in packs!!

This is dangerous: the social pathology is spreading from the ghettos where such appalling behavior is tolerated and, in many cases, rationalized. Until now, the violence and dysfunction has been largely confined to those sections of the city where the criminals live. If Rahm Emmanuel permits this behavior to spread beyond the minority neighborhoods, Chicago is lost. We are near a tipping point. There is no reason Chicago could not go the way of Detroit. The city public schools are already lost and people with kids must go to the suburbs or pay for private schools, like Obama did when he lived here, like Emmanuel does now. If public order declines city wide, turn out the lights. No middle class person, white or Black, will be able to stay.

It’s a whole new world now. This isn’t the 50s, 60s, 70’s 80’s or 90’s.It’s a world where the most violent people in the country are part of a protected class. It’s a world where aberrations like the lone wolf gunman in New York are major news stories, but the total breakdown of society like what happened in Chicago are, more or less, hushed up and ignored.

Seriously though, if the cops arrested 24, more than likely there were 35-40 or more. Let's say they were coming through the neighborhood bashing in car windshields. You watch them coming down the street from your window while on the phone with 911. They pass your house leaving their path of destruction. At the next intersection the cops come and round up a bunch. Do you honestly believe you could identify individual perps?
If you think it would be any different if they were to commit violent crimes, I have two words for you.
