Linda- the only time in my life I’ve ever voted FOR someone was Reagan and I’m dead certain he would be unacceptable to the purists of today.

Most of the time I vote AGAINST the other guy. I find that to be the case with most people I know on the right and the left- we’re NEVER satisfied with our guy. We compromise- we look at our alternatives and decide based the pros and cons. We live in a enormously varied country where beliefs, ideas and values are in competition with each other. The nature of politics and power are such that NO ONE of those competing voices are ever going to get what they think is best for the country. That doesn’t mean I moderate MY views- I simply recognize I’m not the only voice.
I am not a one-issue voter. If I were, Milton Friedman would be my guy- but he’s dead and wasn’t a politician anyway.

The GOP hasn’t managed to scare me as you say- Obama has done that all by himself. I don’t think the GOP is afraid ENOUGH of Obama- but that’s another story.

Slowly, the Tea Party, is making a difference. Even the Ron Paul nut-jobs are making a difference- the more people are exposed to ideas of liberty and freedom vs life by government- the better.

As I said on another thread- as long as the holier-than-thou, smug, sanctimonious group is beating us over the head with The Pure and Holy stick, the less inclined are voters to listen to the ideas of the right.

As to your last question- whether or not God is ok with Romney...I don’t even know where to begin with a question of that nature. I don’t participate in theological discussions at FR.

You didn’t ask me, but I don’t believe Romney or any other human would get God’s endorsement. None of use would make it through that vetting process, IMO.

I meant to address this to Christians who actually live their faith, unlike the democrats who could not care less what their leaders do and still vote for them. That is the reason our country is so screwed up. Ok, so leave God out of this. I have two questions

Is it ok with you that Romney cheated in several states, with the help of the gop had rules changed during the primary to favor romney, and gave campaign donations to other politicans in order to buy endorsements, in order to win the primary?

Is it ok that Romney said he was 100% pro-life and for traditional family values and promised to not change; then after it’s too late he announces he is for gay adoption and thinks it’s ok to kill an innocent baby because her dad was a criminal?

I know what Obama wants to do & I believe we will get the house and the senate to stop him. My worry is how far left and how quickly will he move there?

And as to this comment

As I said on another thread- as long as the holier-than-thou, smug, sanctimonious group is beating us over the head with The Pure and Holy stick, the less inclined are voters to listen to the ideas of the right.

Maybe you and other romney fans don’t have standards, but some of us care about what the future will be like for our kids. If we vote for leaders who lie, cheat, steal and act like liberals, what is the use in voting? People could not forgive one mans mistaken statement, but they can accept alot worse for those they think seem so nice on the outside, but are full of corruption on the inside.

You realize, of course, that -- if Obama is re-elected -- Obamacare becomes a full-blown reality. There will not be enough Republican votes in the Senate or House to overcome a veto.

Is that what you want? Because, if Obamacare becomes the law of the land, economic freedom and personal liberty are both dead ducks. Forever.

If Obamacare is not repealed in the first few months of 2013, America is doomed -- repardless of who controls Congress.

This is why I avoid these discussions. First of all- I'm not a "Romney fan"- but I'm voting for him and I'm doing so as a Christian with a clear conscience. I appreciate your sincerity and respect your beliefs. I'm sorry you're unable to afford me the same.

If Obama wins because of all those principled voters, we can throw them in the stock pot at the re-education camps.

I’ll think about that at the Obama re-education camps. Lord knows Mitt is the same ilk, so it doesn’t really matter.

I do.

And so does everyone I politically associate myself with.

“If voting for Romney is intended to stop an evil 10 times worse, take our nation in a better direction, and to be a first step on the path to where America neeeds to head, God indeed officially approves it.”

There are people here on FR who cannot fathom the thought of a mormon becoming president, as if Romney will institute mormonism as the state religion, but don’t seem to have the slighest bit of concern that we have an American hating Muslim-hiding-in-plain sight as our current leader who celebrates Ramadan in the White House.

God Save America from 4 more years of BO.

Agreed! Anne and Mitt came off as normal, and good parents / grandparents. Chris Wallace came off as a total dweeb.

BLESS YOU, FRIEND! I agree with your EVERY word!

I refuse to comment back to the “Romney haters” and I realize they are going to exsist forever. As the old saying goes, can’t please everyone!

I do know that those who either stay home, refuse to vote Romney/Ryan at the top of the ticket, or vote for another candidate or write-in, ARE ONLY GIVING A VOTE TO OBAMA THE MARXIST.

Nope, that's publik-skool math. If I vote for Romney that's +1 for Romney v 0bama; if I vote for 0bama that's -1 for Romney v 0bama - but if I vote third party that's 0 for Romney v 0bama. See the difference now?
