Sounds like a fairy tale.
Obviously, as two major things make this clear. First, only a complete idiot would divulge about being a 'gun slinger' to a reporter. Second, the reporter could be charged as an accessory to any crime committed where "Chris" was invovled if he did not provide the police with Chris' information, considering 'Chris' admitted to stealing a FireArm, a Class B Felony. Which brings us back to the first point, only an idiot would tell a report that.

Did you read the article? ‘Chris’ is a police informant so the argument that the reporter has some secret information that he isn’t disclosing is invalid. Also, why wouldn’t a criminal want to be quoted especially annonomously? Everyone likes their 15 minutes.
