Nineteen shot in Chicago night of mayhem
BBC ^ | 8/24/2012

Nineteen people were shot in seven attacks overnight in Chicago, as the US city's gun violence epidemic continued.

Thirteen of the victims were shot within a half-hour period, including eight in a drive-by shooting on a single street.

Chicago officials have been battling a sharp increase in shootings and homicides, with some elected officials arguing gangs do not fear the police.

The city's murder rate has spiked 29% year-over-year as of this month.

By that time in 2011, 270 people had been killed in the city, according to data complied by the local newspaper RedEye Chicago. In 2012, that number is 348.

Most of the violence has been in Chicago's troubled south and west sides, but there also have been a handful of incidents in the downtown area.

That all depends on the departments and on the individual cops themselves. Around here a lot of cops are regulars at the shooting range in their off hours.

However my experience is with rural and small town cops who enjoy recreational shooting and hunting anyway.

No, it is not. A DEA guy said that there are up to three Mexican drug gangs fighting over turf in Chicago (in another article on FR). Rahm actually made a stupid statement like that to the press.

Because the Chicago media and the political machine cover for each other, “cop blogs” are where the locals go to get the inside story and descriptions of the perpetrators. Check out Second City Cop and Detective Shaved Longcock.

God,that Rahm is a piece of work.

The people of Chicago voted for him now they have to live with the consequences.

Then there’s always the Paul Shanklin (Rush Limbaugh’s music guy) take off, “In a Yugo”.

The only politician that made Chicago really work was Mayor Richard Daley, Sr. His son, Daley, Jr. was a schmuck. Rahm is a total FUBAR.

Resistance is futile. I give up. Gun control must be the answer. I hate to admit that Bloomberg and Emmanuel have been right all along in this matter! /s

I’d bet those “rent-a-cops” don’t have generous pensions paid by tax slaves after 20 years of work either...

Yes, but Bloomberg was relieved to find out that no trans fats, salt, or large soft drinks were involved in the mayhem!

Maybe, but I’m talking about State law; requirements for the job(s). Big difference. Personally, I find it ludicrous.

How's that gun control working out?

Unlike the folks who are constantly surprised about higher unemployment numbers and bad economy news - we predicted this would be the trend. Makes us a whole lot smarter than the Dims/MSM.
