Yep. Øbama lives just on the northern border (near Calypso Louie) if you cross 51st St. is a warzone. Hyde Park is buffered to the west by Washington Park, to the east by Lake Michigan and the south by the Midway Plaissance (60th St.)
When I lived there in the early 90’s it was a relatively safe place as I can only remeber 3 murders there in 3 years.
Hyde Park is dominated by uber-liberal white Jewish people and the eggheads at the UC.
Cleveland where I’m from is similar.
The place where my parents lived when I was born, I’m not sure I’d visit even in daytime.
But I can visit it without dodging bullets by using Google Streetview, LOL.
