He answered it perfectly. He was making the point that using rape as an excuse to murder a child doesn't fly. It doesn't matter if 100% of the raped women in this country get pregnant or just one woman gets pregnant. It's not the child's fault and the child should not be given the death sentence for a crime he/she did not commit. Secondly Akin's answer has nothing to do with the problems facing America; Obama does.

You are 100% right that his answer “has nothing to do with the problems facing America.” That’s the problem.
It was an easy, obvious, common, predictable question that he was too dumb to handle.
Maybe he was just having a bad day, but there’s no way to spin it as anything other than stupid. Even he has admitted that.
I certainly hope he does better than that in future interviews and debates, but based on this performance, let’s just say expectations have been lowered.
The only answer is ‘we don’t kill babies’ ~ if pushed you add ‘but you do’. Going into the detail of how women might or might not get pregnant has nothing to do with the thread ~ the reporter was simply fishing for Akin to stick his foot in his mouth which he did.
