(Reuters) Missouri conservatives say they are rallying around U.S. Senate candidate Todd Akin despite his controversial comments about rape because they are outraged that establishment Republican Party leaders tried to railroad him out of the race.
A backlash has set in here in Akins suburban St. Louis congressional district, where supporters said the national party had no right to attempt to force out a duly-elected candidate.

No, it's even more subject to variations in hormone levels, like adrenaline and cortisol.
if anything, the greater complexity of the reproductive process would lead me to believe it's more greatly affected by external stimuli.
And anyway, auditory exclusion is mainly effected by swelling of the ear canal itself.
I know you like to present yourself as the expert of so many things, but just because you say it doesn't make it so, and nothing you just posted was the least bit compelling or informative to me.
OK, now let's go back to the original quote.
" If its a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down."
NOTE it says TRY to shut that whole thing down.
How doe you logically translate that into "a general physical impossibility of conception resulting from rape" ?
He's not wrong about abortion.
So... you are saying he wasn't wrong, it's just the words he used ?.
... and I'm just not establishment enough to go defending every statement made by a guy just because he has an "R" after his name.
We agree on that. However, do you have any proof that the womb DOES NOT TRY to shut down an unwanted pregnancy ?
As long as they are legitimate scabs.
Thanks for sharing your opinion.
To me he's saying that pregnancies from an actual reported and documented rape are rare due to the fact that there are uncontrollable physiological responses that may, and usually do, prevent a woman who has actually been raped from carrying the child for a sufficient period of time to even need an abortion.
That's just my take on it.
Others must conform to your view of how things should be?
Isn't that rather arrogant of you?
No, I'll keep my own point of view, thank you very much.
You can disagree with it or try to convince me to change it, but I'm not going to do so just because you order me to.
Do they have orgasms at the same rate?
I am against killing human young.
Quite possibly everybody in this household knows a great deal about the problem with a stapedius that doesn’t work quite right. you’ll never know.
That one issue being right to life?
Good. If that is one thing I know about him, that is sufficient reason to support him and not the "conservative" blabbermouths on Fox News Channel.
But the problem is broader. By trying to orchestrate the campaigns of 2012 as about the economy, starting with the Romney campaign down, the RNC shows its indifference to the American conservatives; further, they do damage by redefining the issues facing America as economic issues.
I know little about Akin, and his original remarks were sure badly spoken. But the shameful, cowardly behavior of the national GOP immediately endeared him to me. Instead of clarifying why the pro-life means pro-life with no exceptions, and alongside that remind the voters that the definition of legal rape is far broader than forcible rape, so the distinctions itself is valid, they caved to the Democrat political correctness Gestapo. Further, they caved to the left wing notion that conservative politicians deserve no slack when they mis-speak, but that every leftwing crack from the Hood is utterly dependent on the teleprompter to even speak in grammatical sentences, -- that is just how business is done. They are cowards and fools.
So in so many words....you dont know how many women lied about being raped.
Well.... if we did know, this thread would not exist. Akin's use of LEGITIMATE RAPE would not even have been questioned.
If your concern is false claims of rape because of generous govt funding of low income rape victims, maybe the funding side of the equation should be changed. It wouldnt be much of a stretch to limit funding to VERY poor victims and for those who filed a police report at the time.
HOWEVER, this is REALITY, and ABORTION, ABORTION FUNDING, the involvement of ORGANIZED CRIME and the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ensure that it WILL NOT BE CHANGED the way you suggest.
I think that Abortion should be limited to special circumstances and that it should involve the pregnant female, her family, the family priest/minister, and a qualified doctor. The government has no business being involved. The only reason they are involved is because the CRIMINALS who run ABORTION CLINICS make major payoffs to politicians. GOTTA KEEP THAT MONEY ROLLING IN. That is one of the reasons these CLINICS perform ABORTIONS on young women who missed their period, but aren't actually pregnant. MONEY, MONEY, MONEY.
And if you don't supply an answer, or won't supply an answer, you stand the risk of being nothing more than a shill, which already seems highly probable at this point based upon your statement.
Of course, and the inference, by some posting here, that we are talking an all or never thing, in reference to that physiology, is embarrassingly juvenile.
I assumed Akin was referring to a ratio.
How is he supposed to control what the Dems do?
He couldn't stop Dems from cross party voting in an open primary could he?
And what do you honestly think would have happened if he had asked or told McCaskill to stop funding such ads?
So, where do you stand on the use of modern toilet paper? Should be more of it, less of it, or it’s about right?
Well... we agree on that.
On the switching sides issue, maybe I was confusing you with PHATHEAD.
Huh? Who said he's worse than Obama? I said he gave a dumb answer to an easy question. It has had a predictable effect on his campaign. You can whine all you want that his words have been "twisted." The bottom line is that the majority of people in both parties in his own state want him to drop out of the race because he gave a dumb answer to an easy question. Nobody tricked him, nobody brought this about except Todd Akin. Like it or not, politics is about persuading people to support you. On that basis, he is a failure. I hope he can recover, but that's where things stand right now, and it's all his fault and nobody else's.
Are there exit polls where voters were asked if the ads influenced their vote?
If you offer evidence of that nature then I would concede the point.
Too many politicians think that stuff works ~ yet today hundreds of millions of Americans have an intellectual prosthetic at hand ~ called access to the internet.
Their best bet is to simply not speak where they don't really know, or where they only have one reference.
I never put anything on the net that I can't back up with more than one source ~ Rush sits there with a FACT CHECKER on line ~ and I think in the early days he used to do his own lookups while on the air.
The only question for the vast overwhelming majority of women is likely to be about RISK TO THEMSELVES. They could get pregnant, and even if rare, do you imagine your typical friendly neighborhood rapist cares much for hygiene? Then, there's the murders, cuttings, maimings, beatings, tossings down stairs, tossings up against the wall, throwings out windows, being left naked in the snow, or tossed in a river ~ the whole violence schtick where the rapist tries a coverup.
If you want to talk RTL that's an issue. If you want to talk RAPE, that's a different issue ~ to your audience if not yourself.
Slick politicians know how to focus their messages for maximum positive impact.
Akins outslicked himself.
Since you're probably a retread, not saying that you are one though your sign in date and replies you've given are signs of being one, all of your posts wouldn't be available for perusal, would they.
I hereby color you confused.
