A newspaper in Argentina is reporting that former South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford has proposed to his girlfriend, Maria Belen Chapur.
The relationship was revealed in June of 2009 when Sanford, who was then governor, took off without telling anyone where he went. It was later revealed Sanford had been in Argentina visiting Belen Chapur.
After his return, Sanford admitted to the extra-marital affair, which eventually led to the divorce from his wife, Jenny.
Clarin.com reports Sanford and Belen Chapur became engaged last Wednesday through a proposal Sanford planned with the employees of a Palermo restaurant where the couple had met for lunch. When translated from Spanish to English, the report described the proposal as "a scene from a novel."
Sanford has four boys with Jenny.
Whew, for moment there I thought you were going to guote Obama.
But who cares about them? All that matters is that their dad has his every itch scratched. That will be his lasting legacy to these young men God placed in his care. Wouldn't be surprised to see him get a speaking role at the GOP convention.
I hate to say this but I can’t blame him. He’s in love.

I am surprised he waited this long, especially when it was obvious he had found his soul mate. He gave up so much for this woman that I can only hope they both find happiness as they grow old together.

He gave up his political career for love. Unfortunately it was with another woman from the one he married and had children with.
I don’ t care if Lindsay is gay or straight. Michael Graham weighed Lindsay’s loafers in Charleston, and found them to be regulation weight, by the way.
I don’t like Lindsay because he is moderate in a conservative state. He doesn’ t represent SC well, and tries to cut deals with libs to ingratiate himself.
If he is gay, he keeps it pretty much to himself.
Sanford is a decent guy with a good track record who made a mistake. He’d be a much better senator for SC.
