I remember meeting a woman who, while she was living in Japan, became pregnant with triplets. But when she went to deliver them by C-section, another one turned out to be hiding behind the first three. When the Japanese news teams showed up at the hospital, a reporter asked her husband what they were going to do, now that they had four new children instead of three as they had anticipated. “Buy one more of everything, I guess,” he answered.
Congratulations on your grandchildren. And also, congratulations on raising a daughter who was wise enough to refuse to “selectively reduce” despite pressure from her doctor.
Buy one more of everything, I guess,
That reminds me of a story I heard years ago, back before sonograms and all that stuff. A lady was expecting and her friends had a shower for her. But when she delivered, it turned out she had twins. She called up all her friends from the shower and told them to buy her more gifts for the second baby.
When someone pointed out that might be considered a little nervy she said “I can’t have one of my children start out life deprived!”
Honestly, this is a true story.
