Also I seem to recall reading about the opposite, many Islamist joined Hitler's side and even a few Soviet soldiers turned on Stalin, fought for Hitler and even built a mosque in Munich for the occasion.

Rule número uno for quickly winning wars: establish your own will while destroying the enemy's COG. Not much to that especially with our superior fire power and technological dominance that we are too “cute” to fully utilize.
