“One just cannot legislate morality.”
-Chief Justice John Marshall

I’m not going to argue with perhaps the greatest jurist to ever sit on the SCOTUS,

One man's morality is another man's law. Several of the 10 commandments are enshrined in our law. What are the 10 commandments except laws? Every society has tried to create laws to control damaging behavior that people might otherwise want to engage in. Laws are a response to the failure and misery of anarchy.

There are good laws and bad laws. But the good ones are a subset of the society's moral code, their version of the 10 commandments. For example, most states now consider texting while driving to be "wrong," a.k.a. immoral. The only real difference between good law and morality is that we don't outlaw everything that we think is wrong, due to the sheer impracticality of enforcing it. But when enforcement is practical, the law should attempt to enforce a society's moral code.

Most conservatives agree the government should pay for the military, law enforcement, firemen, emergency responders and infrastructure. Limited government means we are trying to eliminate the welfare state and the redistribution of wealth from one person to another according to who some government official thinks deserves the money more.

Lordy, I wish that was true.

On the bright side, he has a couple of months to remind MO voters that Ma Claire is still Ma Claire...Obama’s favorite Senator.

Other than that...I got nuttin’.

“Why can’t God call him home?”

Death wish?

I think that’s frowned upon around here.

Now you’re sounding scary. Real scary.

Sharia scary.

“Enforce society’s moral code”

You really went there, man.

Dear Readers and mere passerby.....Folks, THIS is the sort of thing I was talking about when I used the term “American Taliban” a while back.

You sure are full of yourself. Your disdain for us little people in flyover country is apparent in the following post.

Emperor Palpatine to editor-surveyor

Yeah?

Well I’m wealthy and talented. I can bring the house down with one Chopin Polonaise.

So any criticism coming from the ossified brain odf a social security check-collecting retiree from The Middle Of Nowhere Hicksville, MO will be given the credibility it deserves.

i.e. NONE.”

Frankly, I’m tired of you and your ilk. BTW, I could match, and best, your uppity arrogance, but have no desire to do so.

I am not a snob, and don’t care to appear so anywhere on the ‘net.

Obviously, you try to intimidate people. That’s a sure sign of someone with a small shoe size, if you get my drift.

“Dear Readers and mere passerby.....Folks, THIS is the sort of thing I was talking about when I used the term “American Taliban” a while back.”

Yeah...those who have morals are the American Taliban.

You’re one sick puppy....or you are a concern troll.

Or, just a troll?

"The sooner you socons get this the better off. (You’ve been irrelevant since 1980) "

You're right. Actually I think it was 1992 when I started to vote 3rd party. I'm a socon because I think what they advocate is best for the country even if it's not best for the GOP. I've been hoping the GOP would again be the pro-life party but the leadership has become plastic bananas. PS I don't think drugs are good for the country either.
