Steelman would be a no go. Palin didn't energize her in the primary and she couldn't in the general. And she is not really popular with conservatives here.
Wagner is the only choice but if you were her would you sacrifice a guaranteed election to Congress for a fight and a gamble against a seasoned pro.

Brunner spent $9 million of his own $ destroying Steelman. Steelman gets high marks from conservatives I know of. But Jeff City RINOs despise her. She was way up (11 points) in polls over Ma McCaskill when Brunner began his none stop barrage of attacks.
