That’s assuming Akin doesn’t make another outrageous remark...as long as he is still running and on the ballot, the danger of that, as well as the previous comments being recycled to have new life, is a real danger. Even though it clearly looks like he will lose, as long as he is on the ballot, the Democrats have a narrative in other Senate races that there is a danger he could be in the Senate and that their own states would need an “advocate” to be there to stand up to his “extremism.” In fact this is the narrative being taken now by Elizabeth Warren in Mass. Brown appeared to be showing signs of getting the upperhand before Todd Akin changed the entire national campaign narrative.
No. The Democratic Convention on Sept 3-5 will enshrine Akin into a household name. About 10 days away.
