Good grief...this sounds like the old USSR in action. If you don’t agree with the government, you are judged to be mentally ill and “institutionalized”, a euphemism for “imprisoned”

It could happen to everyone on FR...but not without a fight.

“It could happen to everyone on FR...but not without a fight.”

If there was a fight that FReeper would be summarily executed in his or her home, and the usual chorus here would say “they had it coming when they resisted” and even get off a few witticisms about it, not missing the comedy value and all.

You would think so would you, but there are a number of FReepers actual posting in support of the 'Gubbermint' action.

Protestant minister, Martin Niemoller , who found himself interned in a Nazi Work camp...
“ When the Nazis came for the communists, I remained silent; I was not a communist.

When they locked up the social democrats, I remained silent; I was not a social democrat.

When they came for the trade unionists, I did not speak out; I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for the Jews, I remained silent; I wasn’t a Jew.

When they came for me, there was no one left to speak out.”

Martin Niemöller

There, but by the grace of God go I and many of you my fellow FReepers.

There is an excellent presentation on TED on a psychologist who is going through the “psychopath diagnostic checklist” and starts interviewing CEOs to see if they fit. Then he meets a guy at a mental institution who cannot get out because he’s classified as a psychopath.
The guy says he did it to avoid a five year sentence on car theft, is left in for 12 years because he’s classified as a psychopath. Contradicting check boxes say “must show remorse for bad deeds” but “cunning and manipulative’ means shows of remorse in an effort to get out mean you are still a “psychopath”.
In short, once in, it is hard to get out or at least past the diagnosis of crazy. You get fewer rights and no legal help compared to incarceration.
