Infant from Magee found safe; suspect in custody (baby stolen from Pittsburgh hospital)

A frantic, 4½-hour search for a newborn taken from Magee-Womens Hospital on Thursday ended when investigators found the child and his accused abductor in the stairwell of a Downtown office building.

The family of Breona Moore, 19, of McKeesport grew suspicious of her Facebook postings about pregnancy and a child and contacted police when they learned of the 1 p.m. abduction at the Oakland hospital, city police Cmdr. Thomas Stangrecki said.

Pittsburgh police found Moore hiding with 3-day-old Bryce Coleman in her arms inside the Investment Building on Fourth Avenue just before 6 p.m. Moore was charged with kidnapping and could face other charges, Stangrecki said.

He would not speculate on a motive for the abduction but said investigators would attempt to get medical records to determine if Moore ever was pregnant.

Rhonda King, 27, the boy’s mother, was overjoyed when she was reunited with her son, said her sister, Talesha Woodson, who thanked everyone who prayed for the family as she left the hospital about 8 p.m.

“It was noisy. Crying, thanking God, just ecstatic,” said the Rev. Thelma Broughton, who was there for the baby’s return. “We were all so grateful that they found the baby.”

Wearing a black dress as an officer led her into police headquarters in the North Side, Moore smiled and told reporters, “I hurt one person’s feelings that I loved,” explaining that she was talking about a boyfriend.

“Mom, it’s all your fault. Dad, you too,” she said. “It’s a lot when you lose a child.”

I can't help but wonder if this woman isn't post-abortive & greiving the loss of her child. I'm not defending her, what she did is absolutely wrong & she must be prosecuted to the fullest extent, but I can't help but wonder.....

I truly hope she gets the help she needs.

“Mom, it’s all your fault. Dad, you too,” she said.

Isn't that what every teenager thinks about everything in his/her entire life?

I'm glad the baby is safe, and I hope something can be done for this very distressed young woman.

Wearing a black dress as an officer led her into police headquarters
What, no mention of shoes, handbag or jewelery?

I had heard the sound bite but it never occured to me she might be post abortive. You may very well be correct. Her attitude while taken into custody was very odd.

It’s also interesting that she knew the proceedures at the hospital and when to make her move. She must have had some experience.

Well it was part of the incident. Earlier in the day she bought a Magee or UMPC uniform from a downtown supply shop. She was last seen wearing it. Presumably she went back downtown or near the shop and changed.

There were also undpecified comments on her Facebook or Twitter account that implicated her.

UPMC has billions upon billions of dollars to play with, and they can’t secure their hospitals any better than THIS???

There should be an investigation (but there won’t because a lot of those billions go to buy off PA politicians)

Steal a baby and then go and tweet about it. Chad Ochocinco, you are hereby dismissed from the title of Twitter Idiot of the Decade.

Don’t forget about the insecure environment at Western Psych that led to the shootings in March.

Whatever UPMC does with their cash, as an employee, I can promise you that it dosen’t go toward housekeeping, security, adequate staffing, or employee retention.

One of the worst employers around. Unfortunately, for someone like me, they’re the only game in town & I’m stuck. (long story).

I guess the downtown supply store doesn't ask for employee ID badges when they sell UPMC uniforms.

This gal knew the procedures at Magee. Suspect she's been a patient who had a baby there or has lots of friends she's visited who have borne children at the hospital. This was a well thought out abduction.
