Simpson's good OpEd describes the situation and "divide" -- I excerpted some parts (limited to posting rules) to highlight the economic-cultural focus of her comments. The important and too long neglected "economic-cultural" bridge to a strong society has been rediscovered and is in the process of being rebuilt - this is becoming clear to more and more people (world-wide, I believe). Akin is a stupid political hack but that said, his stupidity exposed the dishonest stupidity of the elites who control the Republican Party and their hysterical propagandists like Crazy Annie Coulter and Sean Hannity.

I cannot defend a political hack like Akins anymore than I can defend an elitist snob like Romney whose daddy was a Mexican national who felt entitled to run for the Presidency albeit ILLEGALLY.

Akin’s the Missouri Senatorial candidate. He says he’s not leaving. No one can force him to leave the race. Money is coming in to him from social conservatives. Huckabee, Schlafly, Bauer, and others have come to his side.

As of this moment in time, Akin made a single comment that some take exception to, and even that comment was designed to elicit support for the pro-life position.

I have no problem personally with the word legitimate, because I looked it up and one of its meanings is:
