Lately, however, the president seems to be losing command of the details. In a speech at a fundraiser in New York on Wednesday night, he took aim at Todd Akin, the political punch bag du jour on both sides of the political aisle.

I think it was PR before - they just kept saying how well he spoke. Now that he is a known failure, the same talking heads are insisting even more vehemently that he USED to be able to speak well in order to conceal their duplicity in his election.
He didn’t make that mistake. Others made it happen. In particular, all those people who write what appears on his teleprompter. Obama couldn’t have made that mistake without them.

The difficulty with this is that William McRaven is and admiral not a general.
As a SEAL, he is member of the US Navy, not US Army or US Marines.
Obama has made mistakes with military terminology before. In February 2010, he mispronounced ‘corpsman’ – as ‘corpse-man’ instead of ‘core-man’ several times.
Last year, he mixed up two Medal of Honor recipients, saying that ‘Jared Monti, was the first person who I was able to award the Medal of Honour to who actually came back and wasn’t receiving it posthumously’.
There are Marines in the SEALs.

U.S. Navy SEALs are an elite unit, more exclusive and harder to be admitted to than the U.S. Marines.

Although it is part of the U.S. Navy, it has its own special structure. Navy SEALs on the other hand are the U.S. Navy’s main special operations force. They’re part of the Naval Special Warfare Command (NSWC) and are the maritime component of the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). “SEAL” is derived from their capacity to operate at SEa, in the Air, and on Land – but it’s their ability to work underwater that separates SEALs from most other military units in the world.
