Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is determined to attack Iran before the US elections, Israels Channel 10 News claimed on Monday night, and Israel is now closer than ever to a strike designed to thwart Irans nuclear drive.
The TV stations military reporter Alon Ben-David, who earlier this year was given extensive access to the Israel Air Force as it trained for a possible attack, reported that, since upgraded sanctions against Iran have failed to force a suspension of the Iranian nuclear program in the past two months, from the prime ministers point of view, the time for action is getting ever closer.
Asked by the news anchor in the Hebrew-language TV report how close Israel now was to a decision and perhaps an attack, Ben-David said: It appears that we are closer than ever.
He said it seemed that Netanyahu was not waiting for a much-discussed possible meeting with US President Barack Obama, after the UN General Assembly gathering in New York late next month indeed, its not clear that therell be a meeting. In any case, said Ben-David, I doubt Obama could say anything that would convince Netanyahu to delay a possible attack.
The report added that Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak believe Obama would have no choice but to give backing for an Israeli attack before the US presidential elections in November.
There is considerable opposition to an Israeli strike on Irans nuclear facilities, the report noted with President Shimon Peres, the armys chief of the General Staff and top generals, the intelligence community, opposition leader Shaul Mofaz, and of course the Americans all lined up against Israeli action at this stage.
But, noted Ben-David, it is the Israeli government that would have to take the decision, and there Netanyahu is almost guaranteed a majority.
Other Hebrew media reports on Tuesday also said Netanyahu had despatched a senior official, National Security Adviser Yaakov Amidror, to update the elderly spiritual leader of the Shas ultra-Orthodox coalition party, Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, on the status of the Iranian nuclear program, in order to try to win over Shas government ministers support for an attack.
And the fact that the current US administration does not want Israel to protect themselves. Sometimes I want to move to Israel because of Netanyahu, but by the time I get there, he’ll be retired. :)
Reality: If Obozo wins, Israel will attack asap. Obozo and his Chicago thugs will find out about the attack on Iran’s mass murdering Islamofascists from Fox News or CNN.
If Romney wins, Israel will wait until we help them after the Obozo leaves DC, or Iran will have a mini coup to flush the radical jihadists out of power to prevent the attack.
It depends on the election and who will be Potus in 2013 for four years.
If Obozo and his Chicago pro Islamofacist Thugs win, Israel will attach before Obozo and his Chicago thugs quit partying, doing drugs and gay ventures where no man should go.
If Romney wins, Israel will wait until we can help them destroy what needs to be destroyed in Iran, unless there is an Iranina coup with the heads of Oddjob and his Islamo serial killers served up on platters.
Correction, should be attack instead of attach:
“If Obozo and his Chicago pro Islamofacist Thugs win, Israel will attach before Obozo and his Chicago thugs quit partying, doing drugs and gay ventures where no man should go.”
That will depend entirely on whether or not Iran is actually right on the brink of making an attack impossible. Israel must attack before that point no matter who the president is.
I do not believe that Israel is limited to what we think is a conventional air attack. Remember: they have a neutron bomb, a world class special operations force, and among the most brilliant minds and technological base of anyone. What that means is their access to something we don't know about. The US is not the only nation with R&D capabilities.
Israel is politically and militarily weak and they have no political will to fight a log protracted war which an attack on Iran will bring. They will sue for peace because that is there only viable option. The leaders of the Israeli cabinet and military intelligence have already come to this conclusion. The rest is just psyops to keep Iran guessing.
If they do attack Iran and all the muslim world turns on them, will we stand with them? I wouldn’t bet on it.
But Israel has no choice. They will not survive a nuclear Iran. They know they’re going to find out one day whether or not the U.S. will support them. They figure they might as well find out after they wipe out Iran. If the U.S. won’t help them, at least they’ll have one less muslim country to deal with.
And they may be thinking they’d better do something while the U.S. has a military left to help them. If something doesn’t happen by Jan. 1st, while obama is still president win or lose, our military will be decimated and that will be the excuse obama would use for us not to get involved.
I hope you are right
Why is Israel telegraphing its possible attack on Irans nukes?
Youd think for surprise, they wouldnt mention it until its too late for the Mullahs.
So what Im thinking is theyve got some plan that is infallible one that will get past anti-missile defenses, etc. They sure seem confident.
Maybe the neutron bomb? What do you think?
