My recollection is that McCaskill was almost 10 points down to any of the three contenders before the primary. An almost 20 point swing is significant. Akin will not recover from it. He should withdraw now.

Bingo - his delusional cult of fanatics are exhibiting the same delusions as the ABR’s do.

I care about his voting record. It's the only measure we have as to how well we are being represented. I'd venture a poll on FR would show the vast majority here care about voting records. There's more to being a statesmen than acting the part while the cameras are rolling. Or do you disagree? Should we only hire polished actors to lead this country?

Also theres going to be a highly motivated turnout to vote AGAINST Akin. You are right, I fear. That would be a factor.
And of course, those people will think Hey, as long as Im here, Ill vote for Obama, too.
Perhaps, to some extent. However, keep in mind that Obama LOST Missouri in '08, and he doesn't have the Obamamania working for him this time.
What you could see is Romney winning Missouri, Democrat Jay Nixon retaining the governorship (he's a popular "centrist"), and the unpopular McCaskill winning over the even more unpopular Akin.

Heck, forget a sentence. Try spelling potato wrong (as Vice-President) and see where it takes your career. Anybody who thinks Akin still has a chance is DANGEROUSLY wrong.

Drunk before noon already?
Akin is toxic and will be the rallying cry for the demos just like Foley.
Can’t you see that?
This sight has some of the most delusional people I have ever come across. Akin is toxic like Kryptonite.

McCaskill is very unpopular, and she is below 50 percent which is always a very bad sign for an incumbent.Unless they are running against a complete idiot.

as opposed to the plethora of people who argued they would rather play remember the Alamo and stick with him because after all its the Republican parties fault for walking away from him.

He will go down in flames come November. A true debacle Very true, and neither he nor his delusional band of supporters are willing to reconcile themselves to that very obvious fact.
But sadly, Todd Akin refuses to put the country before his own prideful ego.

Big deal, as I said ask 10 strangers and you will see I am correct.
I did this yeaterday when I went to the food store. At the checkout I sked the bagger and the register women if they ever heard of someone called Todd Akin, answer no. I asked my barber, answer no, I also asked my neighbor who owns his own business, answer no.
Ok, not 10 people but not many are like us here on FR who follow every detail lof every story. Most don’t give a sh*t and those that really care are not about to change there vote to someone they despise because of a misspoken statement.
Trust me I knw about these things.

Ann Wagner or Kit Bond: The two best choices as the replacement for Akin.
Kit Bond: The only one who could win a write-in effort, and even that is dicey.

Its interesting to see that someone who, based upon his/her posts on this forum, wants to do everything possible to discourage votes for the Republican presidential/vice presidential ticket is now also doing everything in his/her power to keep a sure loser on the ticket as the Republican candidate in Missouria state where it should have been a piece of cake to defeat the Democrat incumbent.
I'm glad you picked up on that. It is interesting, isn't it. And also very easy to explain. When you look at Romney's voting history you'll find an anti-conservative progressive liberal statist candidate for President. When you look at Akin's voting history, you'll find a staunch-conservative small government small business candidate for Senate. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to point that out.

Really? The laste possible day for him to withdraw is 9/25 or 9/26 and that has to be court approved. Theres no time to wait and see. None at all.

Missourians in majority voted for a dead man. And then they allowed the dead man’s widow have his seat.
By the way have you moved to Missouri? Or are you on your self appointed mission from God?
When God speaks NOT even the liberals will ignore Him.

You will never get a majority of voters in a statewide race to vote for someone they feel is too stupid to hold office.

LOL, really? Care to explain how Maxine Waters gets elected and re elected?
To: House Atreides
I've been wondering the same thing. Do the "Sore Loser" laws apply if the nominee drops out? (This may have already been answered by FReepers in the know.)
