Thanks for your post
Like I posted on another thread I have heard that reasoning used by ProLife groups in the past
So it wasn’t new to Akin’s response
And since he is so close to prolife groups I am sure that is where he received his information
He should have phrased his answer in a better manner
However the response from the GOP leadership is pathetic including Sarah Palin who disappointed me with her comments
Once again they cower from the MSM and let them frame the issue
I’m in Missouri, and I’m so damn sick of hearing the way the media has destroyed this man.
There is a Democrat in Minnesota who is running for office and was caught having gay sex with a 17 year old boy at a roadside rest stop, and he’s not dropping out.
Whether to abort a child from rape is the most important issue out there? I’ll bet the pregnancies from a rape in MO. could be counted on one hand. We have got to do something about the communist media in this country, or it’s all over.
Better order some more ammo, cause it ain’t gonna happen.
Ditto regarding ideological purity. Politics is the art of the possible. We fight hard for our principles, but when not enough people agree with us, we are faced with a choice. In Massachusetts it is Scott Brown or Elizabeth Warren. Well, that damn Scott Brown just said he is pro-choice. I am going to show him. I will hold my breath. I will stomp my feet. I will not show up at the polls and let Elizabeth Tonto Warren win the seat. And so instead of getting 80% of what we believe, we get zero. The other side has consolidated its grip on power. But we showed them.
In Missouri, only a fool, such as the candidate himself, believes Todd Akin can win. Yes, it is unfair what happened. The leftist media has too much control. The game is rigged. So voters in Missouri are faced with a choice. Stand on principle, continue to support Akin, and let McCasKILL have the seat. That seat may make the difference in control of the Senate. Or they can demand that Akin get out and actively work toward that end. Akin is an arrogant ass who believes only he can advance the pro-life position. He says it is not about him. Yeah, Todd.
If I may, here is an analogy about ideological purity. A guy who lives in a high crime area does not believe in violence or guns. We may disagree on self-defense and think he is foolish, but we can respect him because he stands on principle. In a home invasion robbery he cannot defend his family and they are murdered. He can feel proud of himself for standing on principle. But he has a dead family. What did he accomplish?
Then why does our legal system differentiate between violent rape and statutory rape?
Listening to interview where Hannity berated Akin the way he did and the way Levin went on about it all was absolutely disqusting. Rush wasn’t much better either.
It’s as if everyone bought into the lie spread by the lefty media that Akin stated women CAN”T ever get pregnant by rape. And anyone who is honest knew what he meant by “legitimate” as opposed to Norma McCorvey rape.
Akin is an engineer and his statement he said ‘from what I understand from doctors, thats really rare.’
Dr. Fred Mecklenburg MD
Dr. John C. Willke, M.D.
Dr. Eugene F. Diamond, MD
“Eugene F. Diamond, MD, Professor of Pediatrics and Past Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine, wrote in the To the Editor section of the April 11, 1985 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine:
Pregnancy is rare after a single act of forcible rape. In a prospective study of 4000 rapes in Minnesota, there were no pregnancies. In a retrospective study covering nine years in Chicago, there were no pregnancies. In a prospective study of 117 rapes there were no pregnancies among either the 17 victims who received DES or the 100 who did not.”

But then you always hear that if an Akin or an O’Donnell loses, its because the Republican Party did not support them enough. Some conservatives think that they can run a 100% pure candidate and if they lose, its not because of their positions or the candidate, its because the establishment undermined the candidate. I have no love for the GOP establishment but as you said, you have to be realistic. As unfair as it is, Akin is now toxic. If he loses, its not going to be because the GOP didn’t support him.
Hold a press conference and announce, “I’ll resign when Bill Clinton apologizes to Juanita Broaddrick and Kathleen Willey.” Then watch the contributions poor in.
Then watch the media reports stop! Except for republican pundits.
Indeed it is!
What do I look for in a legislator? A solid citizen? Not really. A decent family man? eh, what do I care who he is screwing. Albert Einstein? Nope. I want someone who would cast his vote on a given piece of legislation exactly as how I would vote. That is it. If there was a scumbag conservative against a sainted liberal, I would vote for the conservative every time. Do I care if the guy who takes my toll is an alcoholic? Do I care if the waiter in my favorite restaurant cheats on his wife? What the hell do I care as long as he gives me good service? I know this may not go down very well with many people here, but if I was in Missouri, and I thought Akin was going to vote the way I thought 90% of the time, I would wait in line to pull the lever.
One of the problems that I had with Obama running for president (and this applied to McCain as well), was that they were legislators. All you got to do is go into a big room and cast a vote. Who cares about the negative consequences? Who cares about the implementation? Who cares about the costs? Just cast your vote and get to that meeting with the lobbyists. You tell the folks back home that you are on their side and wait for re-election.
So, I don't care if you are the village idiot. You vote the way I think, you have my vote. (Of course, if you voted in accordance with the thinking of fhayek, it certainly would imply a superior intellect). Look, democrats say stupid things ten times a day. Nancy Pelosi said that paying people to do nothing (unemployment) actually helps the economy. That didn't seem to hurt her support on bit. I will not let the media make up my mind. Akin was wrong, but on his worst day he is far more right than the lowliest democrat.
Guess who the Rats have scheduled to speak at their GOP Against Women night during their NC Convention? Bill Clinton. Yes the Rats have chosen the worse woman abuser to talk about how pro-woman the Rats are. How can the Rats keep a straight face?
I hope you feel great about yourself with this post, “Blowhard” seems to cover it. Take a good look at post #4 and think over your answer. Akin said he was basing his words on those of doctors. He wasn’t lying. Young girls do have the tendency to lie about being raped.
For the record, Bill Clinton has never been asked in a public forum whether he raped Juanitta Broderrick.
A public denial could give Broderrick a day in civil court even though she will never get the day to tell her story in criminal that she deserves.
If Akin really wanted to stir the pot, he would ask why is the Democratic Party the party of women's issues when Bill Clinton cannot even deny an accusation of rape which was both credible and sworn to under oath by the accuser?
Why is the Democrat Party the party of women, when Teddy Kennedy took Mary Jo Kopechne swimming while she was sleeping in the backseat of his Oldsmobile? Not to mention Uncle Teddy taking his nephew on spring break where William Kennedy Smith evidently did something to get himself accused of rape.
And the Kennedys are still abusing women as Mary Richardson Kennedy's suicide appears to be in part caused by her public humiliation by her husband RFK Jr.
