You know, I’m fine with the guy now. I know what he was trying to say, the word choice of “legimate rape” certainly is unfortunate, but its actual meaning is obvious. Certainly “forcible rape” would have been preferrable.

With regard to the female body having ways of shutting that whole thing down... stupid thing to say, but apparently there is some merit to it in some quarters, but it isn’t reliable scientific fact, so there’s no point in discussing it as if it was IMO.

I understand that he is a 100% pro lifer. I do disagree with that position, because I believe the rape, incest, life of mother exception should be aloowed and not condemned.

That decision is for those people on that unfortunate path to make, and no one else.

But I respect his right to believe as he does. I’d vote for him, he has a respectable conservative record. I wouldn’t throw him under the bus for his unfortunate choice of words. Now is the time to rally around America and elect conservatives, not eat our own as we always do. That characteristic is of failure.

A thoughtful and well reasoned response. Thank you!

Amen. The piling on is not helping conservative causes.

Akin’s mistake was opening his mouth on the subject and that's why he's being thrown to the wolves. There is no abortion narrative that can win, with or without the stupid “misstatements”. The best thing a conservative politician can do regarding abortion is to keep their mouths shut. Find a short concise position that runs right down the middle and don't elaborate even one word beyond the scripted one liner response. Vote how you believe, otherwise keep your mouth shut and solve the economic problems facing this country.

****I understand that he is a 100% pro lifer. I do disagree with that position, because I believe the rape, incest, life of mother exception should be aloowed and not condemned.****

This is a totally inconsistent position no matter who takes it.

It’s always amazed me that a pregnant woman can get punched in the stomach and lose the baby and the person who punched her can go to jail for murder. The woman, however, can go the kill the baby and it’s no problem.

A human has 46 chromosomes. At conception the baby got 23 from his mom and 23 from his dad.

If you believe it is life then what right does anyone have to take it.... for any reason? If you don’t believe it is life then why aren’t you pro-choice?
