>> Rape should not be an excuse for abortion, especially taxpayer funded abortion.

Yet Akin’s remarks concern abortion in the case where rape did not occur.

The collective analysis of his initial remarks is pathetic.

If that’s the “liberal media” you’re on another planet.

Not me. Akin.

When Hannity told him how heavily the PPP Poll that showed him up by 1 was weighted towards Republicans....you could literally hear his jaw drop and his hopes deflate at that very moment, like he hadn’t taken the time to verify the poll that he was personally touting.

Not soon enough before this loon changed the national focus on our disastrous economy.

NO The NSM did by taking it and running with it and as usual the GOP panics when the MSM does into action

When I learned that this comb-over said words to the effect that a woman’s fertility “shuts down” in a “legitimate” rape I realized that this guy is way to stupid to serve as a senator.

Fact is there are about 90-95 STUPID incumbent Senators already

The majority supports legal abortion in cases of rape. That’s not going to change.

The chances of ever getting a pro-life Constitutional Amendment are close to zero. The chances such an Amendment would ban abortions in the case of rape is zero.

If Roe were overturned (or disregarded) then even the most conservative states would still allow abortions in cases of rape.

This is the reality. So would you rather have a chance at abortion policy that is restrictive but no fully so, or abortion on demand forever?

McCaskill is a force for abortion on demand forever; Akin is likely to get McCaskill reelected.

i’m glad that they repudiate each other in public. It makes RR’s job to disassociate themselves from Akin much easier.

Yeah, that’s the first I’ve heard of a poll being so over-sampled with Republicans. The GOP wasn’t +9 in Missouri even in 2010!

It surely seems that this poll was cooked.

True. However, should Achin’ somehow be elected I predict he would be the frontrunner in the race to the bottom of the senate’s collective IQ barrel.

Actually, liberal media wants him to stay in the race. It is conservative media, from Limbaugh to Levin, that wants him to withdraw.

These polls are bad news for Romney who is evolving again.

WASHINGTON, D.C. May 23, 2012, (LifeSiteNews.com) – A new Gallup poll shows a record-low number of Americans describe themselves as “pro-choice,” while half call themselves “pro-life.”

The poll, conducted from May 3-6, found only 41 percent of Americans would embrace the “pro-choice” monicker, the lowest level since the company began asking the question in 1995.

Exactly 50 percent said they identified as pro-life, a near-record high.

The results closely track results in May 2009, when 51 percent of Americans called themselves “pro-life” and 42 percent called themselves “pro-choice.”

In this month’s Gallup poll, 25 percent of those surveyed believed abortion should be legal in all circumstances; while 20 percent believed abortion should be illegal in all circumstances.

The poll’s results are a stunning turnaround from the first survey to ask this question. In 1995, 56 percent of Americans described themselves as “pro-choice,” and only 33 percent of Americans were “pro-life.”

Akin spoke incautiously

That is likely the greatest understatement ever to leave your keyboard.

Akin blurted out an inarticulate, inaccurate statement open to multiple interpretations on a hot button topic to half the electorate that was not only a non-issue in the campaign, but also off-limits. It was not even a principled statement, since it was stated with neither forethought nor consideration. His statement was self-indulgent and careless. It certainly did not evince an honorable support of the pro-life cause.

Hi smoothsailing. Wow, how old is this tweeting Akin character, 13? Liberal media? He’s not right in the head, and it looks like it’s getting worse.

The polling data you cite backs up what I was saying.

Fifty percent identify as pro-life, yet only 20% believe abortion should be illegal in all cases. So clearly a lot of people who consider themselves pro-life favor some exceptions. It’s a safe bet that the exceptions they favor are rape, incest, and life of the mother.

On the other side of the spectrum, only 25% think abortion should be legal in all cases. In other words, only a quarter of the population supports abortion on demand.

So what this all means is that the official party platforms of the Republicans and Democrats are not supported by more than 20 or 25 percent of the population. So forget any notion about a Constitutional Amendment banning abortion. It’s not going to happen. Likewise the Left could never implement their policy either in a democratic manner, but of course they can count on courts doing it for them.

The media can always be counted on to highlight the GOP’s ‘extreme’ party position on abortion. They will not do the same to the Democrats. Therefore it is up to the GOP to make it clear.

The GOP should make it clear that it is a renegade decision by the Sup Court that doesn’t have a shred of Constitutional merit, and Democrat support for this decision that has imposed a radical regime of abortion on demand on the entire nation. They should point out that their aim to overturn Roe would simply return the matter to the states where it belongs. It might be effective in Senate and House races for the Republican to ask the Democrat why they don’t trust the people of {insert state} to set abortion policy?

Whatever the case, I can’t see Akin being a positive force for the pro-life movement any more.

Hi Miss B! :)

If this election wasn’t so important I’d be sad for Akin, he’s unraveling before our eyes.

As it is, right now I’m just sad for what looks like a lost opportunity to pick up a Senate seat.

It is clear what he meant by this. It is the liberal media pressure that has got Romney and others kowtowing to it.

Akin was on Hannity today as the clock was running out. He strikes me as an intelligent guy who misspoke.

One thing is clear... He has a pair.
