Jail? Not in Minnesota.

The teenager was legal age in the state and responded to a public ad so that's no basis for criminal charges.

The public acts were, at most, a misdemeanor under MN law.

You might not like the law, but it was what it was and the prosecutor decided it wasn't worth wasting resources on minor charges particularly in light of the "exposure" the state lawmaker would get anyway.

I was wondering what the legal age was. Thanks for the info.

This is beyond sick to me, but I know it happens. Still, if this was a republican they would have hung him.

Legal?
609.345 Criminal sexual conduct in the fourth degree.
(e) the complainant is at least 16 but less than 18 years of age and the actor is more than 48 months older than the complainant and in a position of authority over the complainant, and uses this authority to cause or induce the complainant to submit. Neither mistake as to the complainant’s age nor consent to the act by the complainant is a defense;

I’d say the old fart used his authority as an elected offical.
