A person who works in the private sector must resign to seek a new job outside his primary employer.

Ummmmm.. no. I have NEVER quit a job before accepting another if I was shopping for a better job. I am just very quit about it at the current work place. Now my boss would know the minute I pick up the want ads. I would not fire myself however.

I do agree. Elected idiots should step down first. that is a completely different animal than job shopping.

Thanks for the heads up on that.

I was confusing. I meant to say if one in the private sector seeks a new job they typically don’t get a paid leave of absence to pursue it, even an “in-house” position.

It is outrageous that our current local, state, federal political system lacks teeth to prevent active office holders from having what is basically a paid leave of absence all for the purpose of upward mobility from their current position. It lets them shirk their duties to taxpayers to campaign for a new office all on our dole.

The minute they say they are going to seek a new higher level office, they should be required to resign and not waste our taxpayer money and time on campaigning.
