I am talking to someone who is willing to throw Akin under the bus based upon the leftist, anticonservative energy generated by McCaskill and her ilk.
Think about it ~ most of those commentators are known homosexuals ~ and some of them are into some fairly rough sexual practices. They only wish their own partners were as rough as they imagine Republicans are. Akin fires their imagination, but NOBODY IS WATCHING. Americans had their toleration level for gays destroyed by Ellen so there's no more room.
The real issue here is what it's doing to Republican voters, not to Democrat voters. Not one more voter will show up at the polls on election day simply over this issue. At the same time Republicans in Missouri who already voted for somebody else in the primary (2/3 of them!) are likely to say 'Hey, I was right, he's a jerk' ~ and they'll pass right on by his name on the ballot.
McCaskill gets no more votes ~ just we lost votes.
This is why any time you have a candidate who really blows his lines ("I was brainwashed" is a good example) you have to DUMP THE CANDIDATE.
I"ve been advocating since February that we needed to dump the GOP-e faction from the party for example. To an unexpected degree I seem to have gotten the attention of a very specific problem in Virginia and the State Committee has decided that we will have a convention next year in our Gubernatorial candidate selection process RATHER THAN ANOTHER EASILY CORRUPTED OPEN PRIMARY.
The deal is sometimes you have to dump these guys because the magic mix isn't there anymore and they'll just take the whole ticket down to defeat.
