The guy (and many others here at FR) can’t distinguish between principles and politics. They are two distinct things. Akin is the most stupid politician I have ever seen. Just because he lays out some religious BS doesn’t mean he is not a moron.

Yes. You can be the BEST conservative in the world, but if you’re an idiot, you’re not helping your cause in any form or fashion. Simply believing in conservative principles is NEVER enough, you need to be able to intelligently and eloquently defend those principles.

Coming out and saying “I love God, I love this country, I hate abortion, I hate taxes and I love the military” shouldn’t be enough to qualify a conservative for office.

Bingo.

This freak is not principled in the least bit since his so called “principles” give us claire and obama again, which is a far greater danger.

Where have we heard these so called “principled” people before?

He is also confusing forgiveness as from God in which you confess your sin and the slate is wiped clean and forgiveness from fellow humans. He expects that all he has to do is apologize and the voters will do as God does, and wipe the slate clean. But it doesn't work that way. In the earthly realm, one has to bear the consequences of one's actions, whether or not people forgive you.

He is acting as if he is in the throes of clinical shock. He is not thinking clearly at all and can't understand or accept what he's done. That's the only way to explain his bizarre behavior. He desperately needs someone very close to him whom he trusts to confront him with the truth.
