You nailed it right there. This guy really doesn't GET IT.
There was a research paper published back in 1999 (I think) that did say exactly what Akin said, so he thought he was giving correct information. Turns out the study was wrong, but he didn’t know that.
I do think it’s an uproar over nothing, but it’s a very damaging situation. I don’t know if he can survive it, but I understand why he wants to try.
The U.S. Senate is all about speeches and debating... he is obviously over his head when he cannot coherently speak about an issue that he claims to care for so much!! The other side will use him endlessly until the election :(

Well, now we know why McCaskill and the Democrats put 2 million bucks into the GOP primary to get Akin as their opponent.
Rep. Akins is so full of himself. He just does not care.
Hannity, usually quick to point out he is not a Republican but a Conservative, is now pulling the Establishment Republican....’Akin, you better do what the RINOS want or we will lose everything’...Akin needs to stay in, stay conservative, and admit only that he inartfully used the word legitimate....the dems jumped on it and seized it, and now....the RINOs are dancing to the liberals tune. Stay in Akin, and win the state. Don’t apologize anymore. You have apologized for misusing a word,...move on...when asked, just tell them you have addressed that question. Stay in and win Missouri.

I hate to play it this way, but the GOP needs to play hardball with his staffers. In as indirect way as possible, suggest to them that they have no future in the GOP if they stick with him He needs to be isolated both financially and from any type of support.
