You forgot to mention some of his strongest supporters, Senator Claire McCaskill and the Missouri Democratic Party. They dumped between 1 and 2 million into the race supporting Akin, hoping he’d be their opponent.

Also, how many of those people that you listed who endorsed Akin in the primary STILL want him to remain the race. It isn’t as if Akin won the primary and people were trying to drive him out right away. Whether people liked him or not they accepted he was our candidate, albeit probably the weakest possible one, till he jammed his feet in his mouth and said something so dumb that he now has no chance to win the race.

Yes, they beleve, as most Dems do, that the most conservative opponent is the easiest to beat. They welcomed going against Reagan using the same rationale.

If Akin was the weakest, how did he win the primary? I have no idea if the same people who endorsed him, still support him. I suspect they do and if they don't, I haven't read any public statements disavowing him.

You are completely buying into the MSM and Dem spin. Akin makes the statement on Sunday and apologizes several times since then including today. You draw the conclusion that Akin can't win. It is a self-fulfilling prophesy when so-called conservatives jump on the MSM bandwagon.

Contrast that with the head of Chick fil A who stood his ground and garnered public support. Akin shouldn't be made into a pariah for what he said and later corrected. Regardless of how one feels about his election chances, you (GOP) don't handle it this way. These public pronouncements by Reps are a disgrace. Make no mistake about it, the GOP Establishment saw this as the pretext for getting Akin out of the race. They always wanted someone else rather than this "radical right wing conservative nut job." Karl Rove wanted Castle for the same reason.
