I am sorry this horror happened to this woman, but she sounds like a naive liberal who jumped into a situation where her do-gooder, “all people are basically good” philosophy put her in danger. Five middle eastern men would have set off alarm bells for me. My neighbor is a muslim from Turkey. He has been a good neighbor for 20 years and has helped me on a number of occasions, but after 9/11 I have been on my guard while still being civil. I don’t feel like I can trust any muslim now.

I’m with you. I don’t trust any of them. Not that there are not a few exceptions out there, but there have been too many instances where a “model mohammedan neighbor for 30 years” switches into jihadi mode.
Since their religion teaches them to lie, you can never be sure.
