“I think he mis-spoke. Its clear he was referring to an actual rape and not a mere claim of rape just so a woman can get an abortion.”
Ding- We have a winner. Now if just 10% of the population here could just figure out that he meant it somewhere along these lines. Real verses Falsely claimed. The people here are doing DU’s work for them.

.
Pretty much routine here any more.
I used to be on the Speakers Bureau for Right to Life. I am sure by “legitimate rape” he meant forcible rape, not including date or statutory rape. When I spoke pregnancy results for forcible rape were listed as .5 to 5% depending on the year and the group compiling the data.
The .5 stat was IIRC 1988 and was a Guttmacher poll of women who had had abortions. .5 listed rape or incest as the reason.
Also IIRC the 5% figure was an extrapolation by Dr Wilke based on many factors.
Akin was correct but danged clumsy in the delivery. :(
The people here are rightly concerned, first with some idiotic comments by a career politician who should know better and secondly, by the coming media firestorm that will make independent voters look at this guy as the spawn of Satan.
He just single-handedly killed his chances of being elected to the Senate. He needs to step down, let Steelman have a shot, because if he stays, McCaskill just got another 6 years to be an empty suit.
