but since it is so easily hacked, as we see with the various "swatting" incidents, it should no longer be considered reliable. Either secure the system, or toss it.

I respectfully disagree. Whether accomplished via spoofing or social engineering, it's hacking, and it's illegal.

Or, do you consider hacking a state of mind, that simply involves learning about systems and doing no wrong, in the 2600 vein? If so, then I agree, but that's not the common nomenclature. :)
