It's August 19th. Plenty of time to pull a Torricelli/Lautenberg and replace with a candidate who can win. And it's not just about Missouri; this is going to have legs nationally. If the GOP doesn't do that, starting tomorrow EVERY GOP candidate from Romney/Ryan down to the guy running for East Bumble**ck Animal Control officer is going to be hounded to not only comment on but also disavow the statement.
