Obama adviser says People magazine ‘equally important’ as national news media outlets

On Sunday’s broadcast of CNN’s “State of the Union,” President Barack Obama’s deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter hinted at what kind of voter the campaign’s media strategy plans to target in the near-term.

While Obama has avoided answering questions from the White House press corps for more than two months now, he has taken on other media outlets for interviews, including People magazine, “Entertainment Tonight” and a New Mexico radio station, where he discussed his taste in music. According to Cutter, making time for those outlets is as important as focusing on traditional media.

“I don’t think that they’re more important, but I think that they’re equally important,” Cutter said. “I think that’s where a lot of Americans get their news. And I think the president’s going to continue doing that. You know, Mitt Romney might have had two media availabilities, but what did he tell you, Jim, in those media availabilities? He told you he wasn’t going to release his taxes because he was afraid of getting attacked. And you know, he spouted off lies [about] the president’s Medicare system. So, do you find that media availability really useful if he is not being transparent about his own policies and distorting the president’s? ”

Maybe he’s right.

The NYTimes is not important, therefore...

If referring to the lamestream media, the statement is probably accurate. If referring to the actual "news" content....

To paraphrase LBJ’s remark during the Tet offensive , “If we’ve lost CBS (Walter) we’ve lost the election (the war).

In case you haven't noticed, this isn't LBJ's America.

CBS has been the butt of jokes for decades, now.

The navy corpse-man?

He’s the commander in chief, navy corpsmen have died in combat, and he’s so incredibly ignorant that he says “corpse-man” twice in the same speech.

Maybe the teleprompter alone would be more qualified for the job.

Democrats are such liars. The only people stupid enough to believe them are members of the press.

Oh yes, I know. I was around here during Dan Rather's TANG downfall at the hands of Buckhead and when somebody did a very clever graphic superimposing the CBS symbol on to the collapsing Eye of Sauron from the Return of the King. Wish I had that graphic. I'd like to put Obama's logo on it. I just thought the existence and timing of that CBS article were curious

When has anything come out of CBS (or Newsweek) that did not treat Obama like some sort of demigod? I like to draw analogies from history and when LBJ realized he'd lost Uncle Walter, who was just as much in LBJ's back pocket as today's (shadow of its former self, admittedly) CBS is in Obama's, he knew he'd irretrievably lost the battle for public opinion and the war. I know this CBS article and tomorrow's Newsweek cover editorial are probably temporary aberrations, but if not and it's the start of a trend ... interesting times ahead.

While you and I and millions of others do not give a rat's a** what any of the MSM pukes think there are regrettably still a few million out there who get their news and form their opinions from that drivel.
