But this is Austin, not Houston. I35 is a straight shot down the middle of town. East is east and west is west. Nothing to be confused about. Read the posts laughing about the reporter’s other goofy reporting.

You don't want to be in east Austin after dark. If you do have to travel on streets east of IH 35 at night, lock your doors. The saying that nothing good happens after midnight takes on a different meaning in east Austin.

The “East Side” of Austin was the east side before I-35 existed. It is the residental and business are east of down town which can be west of the freeway.
