At the same time this looks like a sort of harassment not proportionate to the offense.

He probably ought to countersue the DNC for a share of the campaign funds his shenanigans enabled them to raise for the 2006 election!

I am still amazed that laws are applied so disproportionately at Pubbies.

Has anyone every been busted at that airport for such activity? How did the information get out so quickly to the press? Almost like an Axelrod sponsored DNC memo.

From what I remember, his Senate duties DID provide him a legal cover for the trip home and its aftermath. I fly through that airport every few months and it just seems incredulous that it is possible to think up such a scheme.

Was he guilty? Who knows, but it just smelled too much like a setup.

Ask former Rep Ryan of IL on his opinion on these tricks.
