It appears that the only booming industries in the USA right now are government around Washington, DC, Wall Street and the Bay Area's Silicon Valley (led by Apple and Google).

This is why we need major regulatory and income tax reform, so all sectors of the American economy can grow again.

Jobless rates rose in 44 states ... down in two states and the District of Columbia ... and rates were unchanged in four states.

This article is inaccurate because it doesn't tell what happened in the other seven states

The big factor in DC isn’t the government. It’s the ongoing urban renewal that’s making it a “hip” place for younger Xers and Yers/Millenials to live. The government workforce is really graying; most of the ones who work in DC live in Maryland and Virginia (with a smattering in West Virginia and even Pennsylvania).

The thing that’s really ticking off the oldline DC political structure is that the city is becoming more prosperous because non-Blacks are moving back in and are the ones driving the economic growth and political trends. Its the trend that gave rise to Mayor Adrian Fenty but also spawned one hell of a backlash in the Marion Barry Jr (Gray) mayorship.

It’s amusing as hell to watch because you have the old and decidedly corrupt, Democrat power structure (represented by Gray) being challenged by the Democrat/Progressive hipster crowd.
