Tom Morello rips Rage Against the Machine fan Paul Ryan
Los Angeles Times ^ | August 17, 2012 | August Brown

First New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie was rebuffed by The Boss. Now another well-know liberal musician has spurned the advances of a right-wing politician-fan.

In a brutal Rolling Stone editorial, Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello calls Paul Ryan, Mitt Romney's recent vice presidential pick, the "embodiment of the machine that our music has been raging against for two decades."

Truth is Ryan probably just plays RATM during his P90X workouts and doesn’t even listen to the lyrics.

I can easily say that Tom is a talentless hack

Well I'm sorry but that's just foolish. Morello love him or hate him is one of the best 100 guitarists to ever live, no question about it.

I absolutely love IM thru Powerslave. Later stuff not as much.
Have you listened to Iced Earth- The Glorious Burden? Every patriot who likes rock and metal should. Sons of Liberty too.

Morello is a perpetual teenager, mad at his parents because they didn’t buy him a car when he turned sixteen. He isn’t so much a guitar player as a dj who uses a guitar as a turntable, for which he is decently talented, strictly as a guitarist, he is barely functional. For as long as he has been a figure in pop music, he’s always been an attention whore, and always been a hipster commie. RATM had several catchy tunes, but every last one of them is needlessly political and wrong in it’s message.

Morello is a miracle of marketing and not a lot more. The irony is incredibly rich here.

It’s funny that you say that because I listen to their one good song in my workout playlist.

I really hate that he’s such an awesome guitarist.

Never heard of him.

I suspect that Joe Satriani can play circles around him and if you think anyone you've ever heard of is an awesome guitarist, then try stacking them up against Tommy Emmanuel.

Also his great uncle was Jomo Kenyatta, the President of Kenya for two decades. Maybe his politics are a way of getting back at his father. During the Cold War, Kenya was one of our staunchest allies in Africa, still are. Kenyatta was one of only a few anti-Communist leaders in Africa during this time. I believe the US Navy maintained a base in Mombasa for a presence in the Indian Ocean. Today the Kenyan military is at war with the Jihadis in Somalia.

Good points. Laughable to to hear some rich liberal in a band; complaining about people who seek to throw off the chains of excessive government!!

His bragging right and broken record talking point is that he volunteered long ago for the GOP convention many years ago during the early 90’s.

Honestly, I had the EVIL EMPIRE cd many years ago and those bass lines are his. BUT just like Newsmax guy who asked a sargeant in Iraq many years ago why he plays Rage Against The Machine when they are heavily liberal, the soldier responded ..

“I listen to their songs, but I don’t hear them”.
