How exactly does one get arrested for resisting arrest? As for assaulting an officer: let me guess, it’s their word against his. And the fine Men In Blue would never lie. They might go to someone’s house, uninvited, but they would never lie about being assaulted.

All you have to do is say something like “Please don’t arrest me.” and they can charge you for resisting.

The same way as that other old chestnut -- arrest for disturbing the peace, the disturbance being caused by the process of arrest for disturbing the peace. There is clearly time-travel involved.
