Earlier this week, Special Operations OPSEC Education Fund Inc., a group of former U.S. intelligence and Special Forces personnel, launched a campaign criticizing President Barack Obama for unfairly taking credit for killing Osama bin Laden and leaking national security information for political gain.
This is the second high-profile attack on the president from ex-elite military operatives. Last month, Ryan Zinke, a Montana State Senator and former commander of Navy SEAL Team Six, started a super PAC, Special Operations for America, which is dedicated to supporting Mitt Romney and hitting President Obama on leaks and on politicizing Bin Ladens death.
According to Mr. Zinke, these two super PACs are just the first salvo in what will be a sustained assault on the president by high-level ex-soldiers.
Theres a number of groups out there, Mr. Zinke told Politicker this morning. I think what it demonstrates is, theres a lot of anger, theres a lot of concern among the former military community.
Mr. Zinke said he believes these feelings of anger were fueled by a series of White House leaks and an Obama campaign commercial featuring President Bill Clinton that questioned whether Mr. Romney would have ordered the SEAL Team Six raid that killed Bin Laden.
I think there is huge concern that the administration is using and continues to leak class documents for less thanwell, for political gain, said Mr. Zinke. I think when the commercial came out with President Clinton and President Obama, and they talked about the political ramifications of failure, they didnt talk about the families that would be left without a father. They talked about political consequencesthat was a bridge too far.
Mr. Zinke also pointed to White House leaks about the Bin Laden raid to a pair of filmmakers who are making a movie about the operation as something that was upsetting to military personnel.
Theres a lot of reasons you can release classified information, a lot of justifiable reasons, but making a movie for political gain isnt one of them, Mr. Zinke said.
According to Mr. Zinke, there are currently at least four other anti-Obama groups made up of former elite military operatives: Special Operations Speaks, Veterans for a Strong America, Special Operations OPSEC Education Fund Inc. and his group, Special Operations for America. He said he expects that number to climb.
Because active-duty soldiers are barred from engaging in political activity, Mr. Zinke believes it is especially important for retired military personnel to speak up.
Its really incumbent upon the retired guys to articulate a message. You look at the approval ratings of the president, Congress is in single-digits, the president is not far behind, and I think Americans still appreciate the credibility of our military, he said.
(For the record, the presidents approval rating actually currently stands at over 40 percent.)
Mr. Zinke described his group and VSA as kind of sisters and said he knows some of the officers involved in other groups from his days in the SEALs, but said SOFA doesnt coordinate with any other groups.
Were trying to link many of these organizations for a unified effort and, to a degree, theyre like herding cats, said Mr. Zinke.
Though he knows theres power in a unified message, Mr. Zinke said part of his reluctance to associate his group with other similar organizations is because, SOFA is a little more cautious; we dont want to editorialize.
The Obama campaign criticized Special Operations OPSEC Education Fund Inc. as being akin to the swift boat attacks that smeared John Kerry in 2004 and noted that, despite claims of nonpartisanship, the group has ties to the GOP. Mr. Zinke dismissed these criticisms of the former military groups attacking President Obama.
Theres going to be attempts to discredit, Mr. Zinke said. I guess when you take a stand, you expose yourself to rocks. And so be it.
For his part, Mr. Zinke said his organization is not swift boat.
I can speak for SOFAwe are not swift boat in that what we are articulat[ing] is factual, and were very careful not to make personal attacks. We are making a complete argument of why the administrations actions and policies are not in the best interests of national defense and national security, said Mr. Zinke.
Special Operations for Americas upcoming plans include a television commercial. Mr. Zinke said the ad would be edgy, but wouldnt be a personal attack.
I dont stoop to personal attacks, he said. You know, Im not from Chicago. In Montana, we do things a little differently.

Excuse me, Mr. Zinke - SWIFT BOAT WAS FACTUAL

Going to have to assume the remark isn’t/wasn’t taken out of context and can actually see them saying “don’t confuse us with the Swift Boat assault”, BUT why (sort of) Weewee off a whole group that has been successful in this type of operation -Bet your bippy they will have no problem trying to raise money from the ‘Swifties’ list
If you notice #15 they say Kerry responded for the Admin.
Well....he should be OPSEC’s mascot....he kinda has that.....”Here’s lookin at you Obama!”.
We’re comin fer ya.
excellent ping!
Thank you, Moose!
Excuse me, Mr. Zinke - SWIFT BOAT WAS FACTUAL.
~~~~~~~
Damn straight!
Excuse me, Mr. Zinke - SWIFT BOAT WAS FACTUAL.
Ping, ping, ping, ......
everything this effer zero does proves that he is an American-hating POS. everything.
Go seals go.
The least of you is twelve quantum levels above the best liberal.
(( ping ))
This is some great stuff here.
Excuse me, Mr. Zinke - SWIFT BOAT WAS FACTUAL.
I noticed that, too. Zinke better watch his mouth, get his own facts straight.
“Hope there is a way to get this message out on the MSM. That is where the most influence can be obtained.”
The LSM will bury this then ignore it then ridicule it then spin it. A viral video will accomplish far more.
swiftboating is a word liberals created, and Mr Zinke seems to have bought into the word and its definition.
In reality Swift Boat veterans are special operators of their day, and today’s Seals, if they were working with them, would embrace them as Brothers-in-Arms.
Orwell said they’d be clever with words.
BTTT for OPSEC and SOFA!
Exactly! The Swift Boat veterans spoke the truth!
Progressives: as seen through the eyes of a U.S. Navy SEAL
Benjamin Smith - U.S. Navy SEAL
You are at war. Your way of life is under siege. Lose this war, and your family will be slaves.
A dictator once said, Politics is war without bloodshed, and war is politics with bloodshed. That dictator was Mao Tse Tung; a mass murderer of millions the Marxist dictator of China and the unsmiling Asian guy in the stylized posters who is a hero of some in our present government.
Americas current political ascended to power under the name Progressive. Lets spend some time finding out what that label really means and how America is at war without bloodshed.
Progressive sounds pretty good, doesnt it? Makes you think of progress. Only progress towards what? Who gets to reap the benefit of the so called progress?
Look back at America and what it used to be. The greatest nation in the history of mankind.
Look at it now. America is progressing towards socialism with government control over every aspect of our lives.
Its sad but true. Glenn Beck has done a great job of exposing the Obama regimes takeover of the country. We know what the Cloward and Piven model is about; events that those Progressives arrange to overwhelm the system until a crisis is created. Progressives have achieved their goal of implementing a solution which sets them up for huge land grabs into our lives and American business.
Progressivism is basically an egalitarian form of government where everyone is forced to be equal in all respects. Sure, you can own your own business but the government steals all the profit from it and from you so they can give it to someone who lacks the ambition or enthusiasm that you have; and we take the word for granted. I wonder how many Progressives even know what the word means when they describes themselves with that term?
Somehow most of Americans just dont get it. By hiding behind the term Progressive, socialists bent on seizing power away from the American citizen have gotten so far along with their agenda theyve taken over the White House, Congress and Senate. Notice the banks, the insurance industry, manufacturing sectors and even healthcare.
How did they do it you ask? Through the traditional progression of warfare.
I know warfare. My adult life has been about preparation, engagement and waging war. However, an idea warfare comes long before bloodshed.
I highly suggest reading The Art of War by Sun Tzu; but put on a pair of rubber gloves before you pick up a copy of Rules for Radicals by Alinsky. These books are not about the physical bloodshed in a battle theatre and killing or mutilation, they are books that teach a mindset and strategy for first waging war on the Battlefield of Ideas.
The Progressive is a sly and cunning character with a battle plan. What theyve done most effectively to all of we who make up the the silent majority was to keep silent themselves.
You know that old saying: the best thing the devil ever did was to convince you that he never existed? Its a great strategy in any type of conflict. Why confront head to head if you dont have to? Why risk being outdone if you have smaller numbers or risk being proven a fake or just wrong if you can stand and make your point to everyone? Publicity opens the plan up to scrutiny.
The Progressive can stand next to you as your friend or behind you with your full trust while you remain unaware of his intentions.
He makes sure youre comfortable and relaxed and works hard to get you thinking that the world is a good and safe place. The Progresive strives to make you believe that things are improving and theres nothing to worry about. But the Progressive knows he can strike at will and youll never see it coming. You are on his battlefield, facing his obstacles and fighting on his terms.
You dont even know youre facing an adversary or that perhaps youve already lost. The ultimate victory is to win with all your forces intact and to never have even lifted a finger.
This is the art of war.
The goal of the 21st century progressive totalitarian is to win a war that nobody really noticed until it was way too late.
Are totalitarians such a bad thing? Not if you believe the state, usually under the control of a single political person or group, recognizes no limits to its authority and strives to regulate every aspect of public and private life.
History teaches us that when the dictator takes power, particularly one who makes his people believe that he does what he does for the good of mankind, then the populaton ends up dead or enslaved.
There is no example in history, modern or ancient, in which comprehensive governmental control over the individual lives of its people has led to anything other than poverty, misery and death by the millions . . . . to be continued >>>>>
My 911, a reality with Ben Smith, U.S. Navy SEAL part one
Benjamin Smith, U.S. Navy SEAL
What a tragic day; Islamic terrorists from Al Qaeda hijacked commercial jets and used them to destroy the World Trade Center, hit the Pentagon and crashed a hijacked plane in Shanksville, Pennsylvania taking 3,000 innocent lives; Americans and foreigners of all sizes, colors, languages and religions.
Americans were shocked, mortified and caught completely off guard. Some mourned but others cheered our fate around the world.
We all remember what happened and we vowed to never forget. But the true meaning of never forget is not to forget what 9/11 means to our nation, to free people around the world and to never forget our mission.
I have never really tried to put together what 9/11 meant to me because of the far reaching impact it had on my life and where I was in my life at the time. Its like being asked What was BUDS like? or Whats it like to be a Navy SEAL?
The questions are just unanswerable in one sitting. The answers will usually produce a response of really? or You will have to come up with some better questions than that.
My quick and ready answer is the first line of a Dickens book It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. Then I just walk away.
Al-Qaeda Training
The catastrophe ripped me to the core because I grew up only forty miles away in Upstate New Jersey and knew people in the area as most did from that part of the country. In addition to growing up in New Jersey, I could see New York City on the horizon from the top of a mountain behind my house.
I used to visit my grandparents and cousins who lived out on Remsen and we would see the towers as we went past Yankee Stadium. Occasionally, wed go into the city to ride in the elevators in the towers and jump when we got to the top. Youd feel like you were going to slam into the ceiling and could feel the weightlessness as you moved so quickly.
The buildings were huge; but until you have actually seen them and been in them, you dont get the full scope of what happened there.
About four days prior to 9/11, I was a young Navy SEAL and had just graduated from SQT, the last hurdle to jump before reporting to my assigned Team or Platoon. I was happy and excited to be a Frogman and didnt have a care in the world. Like firemen, you dont wish for people to get into accidents or for their houses to burn down, but you want to get out there and do something because you just made it to the big leagues.
I wanted to test my skills somewhere in the world and there really wasnt much going on anywhere. I wanted something to happen so the SEALs could save someone from the bad guys.
I remember thinking that my generation had nothing to show for itself other than the advent of computer and video games.
Little did I know of the horror that awaited a nation - my nation that I signed on to protect.
