If you think the amount of recycling has increased over the last in direct correlation to drop off in the train carloads of waste transported then are sorely mistaken.

Americans haven’t just suddenly increased their recycling by 30% in the last Fiscal Quarter especially when the percentage of waste flow the we recycled has held to around the same percentage for several years now.

If anything more was being recycled just prior to the Financial Crisis of ‘08 when most metals were fetching record prices. Thieves were actually pulling wiring out of unoccupied homes and taking the Heat Pumps to the copper coils out to be sold for recycled scrap.

Scrap Prices were at record heights then.
